摘要
Protein Calorie Malnutrition (PCM) is common among heart failure (HF) patients. The prevalence of malnutrition among HF patients can be attributed to factors such as reduced caloric intake due to medication-induced anorexia, anxiety, and low energy levels to prepare food. Some chronic HF patients may even develop cardiac cachexia with skeletal muscle wasting as a result of entering a catabolic state. However, the impact of metabolic derangements such as PCM on outcomes in HF patients is not well defined. We aimed to assess the impact of PCM on outcomes in patients admitted with acute HF exacerbation.
