Abstract
This article is a basic introduction to design and analysis for functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) studies. The article describes the fMRI experimental set up and commonly used spatial and temporal data pre-processing steps. It then describes a typical study design, differentiating between task-based and resting-state fMRI. It is followed by a brief description of statistical analysis techniques used to draw inferences, including univariate and multivariate approaches. At the end, most common software used to analysis fMRI data are listed.
