Abstract
This manuscript attempts to provide a smart solution for the analysis of the water quality of Satluj and Beas rivers flowing in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab states. The objective of the analysis is two-fold. First, to present a comprehensive analysis between both the rivers in two states respectively and secondly to provide the correlation between various water quality parameters so as to find the minimal parameters required for monitoring water quality. Data related to various parameters of water quality namely pH, the , conductivity, temperature, nitrate, total coliform and fecal coliform is collected, analysed and evaluated for the purpose. Analysis of water quality between Satluj and Beas reveals that water quality in Punjab is inferior as compared to Himachal Pradesh. Further, analysis also reveals that river Satluj has lower water quality as compared to Beas in both the states. The correlation between different parameters is evaluated through the Pearson correlation coefficient. BOD and conductivity showed a strong positive correlation with the coefficient value being 0.93. The correlation insights generated from the simulation indicate that most prominent indicators for monitoring water quality are BOD, temperature, pH and conductivity.
