Abstract
Biopolymeric materials have played an increasingly prominent role in the success of biomedical devices and in the development of tissue engineering (TE). Depending on the structure, organ or tissue that needs to be restored, it is necessary to design a scaffold that resists the efforts of the surrounding environment, stimulates the healing process and benefits cell growth. In this way, strategies have been generated for the incorporation of nanostructures that can reinforce the matrix, improve the mechanical support, and reinforce the junction sites of the scaffold. In this chapter, the strategies for using nanomaterials and their application in TE are presented.
