Abstract
The various medicinal plants and the purified components of them exhibit valuable therapeutic potentials, including antioxidant, antiinflammatory, anticancer, antimicrobial, and immunomodulatory effects. Nigella sativa, a dicotyledonous herbaceous plant that belongs to the Ranunculaceae family, has been used for many decades as a food and spice preservative. The accumulated studies have shown that N. sativa possesses various pharmacological properties such as hypotensive, antiviral, antitumor, choleretic, antifertility, antidiabetic, and antihistaminic. In this chapter, we are going to discuss the immunomodulatory role of N. sativa as an immunomodulator in different disease condition and effect of N. sativa seeds active ingredients on different cell type.
