Imperfect-maintenance Optimization Model Based on System Reliability Constraint

To ensure the overall safety and reliability of a multi-component system, most maintenance optimization models set a reliability constraint value for each component. However, because of the complexity of system compositions and the randomness of component degradation failures, this method not only underutilizes the residual performance of the components but also wastes maintenance resources. This paper presents a new maintenance optimization model to address the problem based on a system reliability constraint. First, the Wiener process is used to describe the degradation processes of the critical components, and the update process of the degradation rates of the components along with the actual inspection data is described as a random walk model. Second, an analytical expression for the real-time reliability of the series system is derived by using the first-hitting-time theory. Third, while ensuring compliance with the reliability constraint of the system, an imperfect maintenance optimization model based on a system reliability constraint is established. Finally, a missile guidance system is used to verify the validity and effectiveness of the proposed model, and a sensitivity analysis is performed on related parameters.
