Abstract
Abstract: Objective : The study aims to explore the influence of belief in a just world (BJW) on junior high school students’ academic performance and the longitudinal mediating effects of psychological resilience and learning engagement. Method: A multi-point longitudinal questionnaire survey was carried out among 460 students in a rural junior high school in Tianjin by using the BJW Scale, Psychological Resilience Scale and Learning Engagement Scale. Conclusion:(1) BJW (T1) significantly predicts academic performance (T3). (2)Learning engagement (T2) alone mediates the effect between BJW (T1) and academic performance (T3). In addition, together with learning engagement (T2), psychological resilience (T2) plays a chain mediating role in the relationship between BJW (T1) and academic performance (T3).
