Compact Substrate-Integrated Waveguide Cavity-Backed Slot Array with Dual Polarizations

A novel cavity-backed slot antenna array with dual polarizations is proposed in this paper. The proposed array is comprised of four right-angled triangle (RAT) cavities linked by inductive windows and four slots on the upper surface of the cavities as the radiating elements. Two separated SIW feeding networks are used for generating dual polarizations. By switching the two input ports, the proposed array is capable to provide two different polarizations, i.e., horizontally linear polarization (HLP) and vertically linear polarization (VLP). The field distributions of the SIW cavities are employed to analyze and illustrate the radiation characteristics. The proposed array demonstrates an effective way to achieve multi-polarized antenna.
