Research on Optimal Configuration of Line Lightning Arrester Considering Terrain and Flashover Cost

Line arrester is one of the most effective lightning protection methods for transmission lines. Conventional arrester installation methods do not consider the actual tower structure, terrain, and flashover cost, which leads to poor technical and economic efficiency and a certain degree of blindness. In order to study the economical installation plan of the arrester, based on the ATP-EMTP and electrical geometric model, the influence of the tower structure, topography and line flashover cost on the installation method of the double-circuit line arrester was studied. And use the technical and economic index W to comprehensively evaluate the lightning protection effect and economy of the arrester under different installation methods. When W>0, the installation of the arrester is economical. The larger the W value, the stronger the technical economy.
