Synergetic Effect of Green Synthesized Rgo/Nzvi Composite on the Removal of Doxycycline Antibiotic from Water

In the present work, the synergetic effect between rGO and nZVI was studied on the adsorptive removal aptitude towards doxycycline antibiotic from an aqueous solution. The Atriplex halimus extract was utilized not only as a reducing agent but also as a stabilizing agent as well for the phytosynthesis of rGO/nZVI composite. Several analysis techniques have been used to confirm the successful synthesis of the nanocomposite such as SEM, EDX, XPS, XRD, FTIR, and zeta potential. The adsorptive removal of doxycycline by rGO/nZVI composite confirmed the synergetic effect between nZVI and rGO as the maximum removal efficiency was 96%. The maximum adsorption capacity (q max) was 31.61 mg. g -1 . However, the process obeyed the Freundlich isotherm model, and the pseudo 2 nd order kinetic model was the best fit for the adsorption process. Besides, the rGO/nZVI composite exhibited outstanding recyclability for the removal of doxycycline antibiotics for six successive rounds.
