Appraising the Bioactivity Potentials of Eco-Friendly Synthesized Metallic Nanoparticles

Nanoparticles have extensive application in biotechnology, medicine, environmental remediation and catalysis. In recent times, efforts have been tailored towards the preparation of different types of nanoparticles for application in medicine and biotechnology including as anticancer, antimalarial, antimicrobial, antioxidant agents and so on. This chapter discusses the environmentally friendly synthesis options (green synthesis) and their advantages and limitations. It was observed that among these green synthesis options, synthesis of metallic nanoparticles from plants have been vastly explored with plants offering different parts (leave, stem, root and fruit) for the synthesis. These nanoparticles synthesized via green route have been known to possess extremely important biological properties. Also, factors responsible for the enhanced biological properties of these types of nanoparticles are considered in this chapter. Lastly, the progress and the challenges synonymous to synthesis route of metallic nanoparticles are highlighted in this review
