Abstract
Nowadays, online review sites in the tourism industry have become key elements for both customers and companies. They provide tourists with valuable information about their destinations when planning trips, as well as facilitating the booking process for accommodation and holiday activities. For the hotel industry, online reviews can help to build a ranking based on the average score received by companies. In this case study, we analyse how a sample selection may produce bias, such as that produced by the Covid-19 crisis and other seasonal situations at tourist destinations.
