Positive Association Between Plasma Levels of Cellular Adhesion Molecules ICAM and VCAM with Trait Aggression and PSQI Daytime Dysfunction

Cellular adhesion molecules are responsible for the adhesion of immune cells on the vascular endothelium and communication between brain immune cells (e.g. microglia) and peripheral leukocytes. Their upregulation was reported in mood disorders but they are understudied in regard to risk of suicidal behavior. In this secondary analysis we related plasma inflammation cellular adhesion molecule 1 [ICAM], vascular cell adhesion molecule [VCAM] with modifiable suicide risk factors such as aggression, impulsivity, and sleep impairment.
