Abstract
India has a large number of expansive clay deposits. Because oftheir unexpected shrinkage and swelling behaviour, dealing withthese soils for construction purposes is extremely problematic.Because swelling causes huge upheaval stress on structures, thisoccurrence of these soils is quite detrimental for them. Soilstabilising measures are employed to overcome such kind ofexpansive soil behaviour. The goal of this study was to use leftoverceramic tile to improve the engineering characteristics ofexpansive soil. Ceramic tile waste is a type of industrial waste thatcan be utilised to stabilise soil. Ceramic tile waste is employed inthis study in powdered form, and it is combined with expansivesoil by weight in proportions ranging from 5% to 30% in a 5-percentage-point interval. The effect of tile powder on expansivesoil was studied using a number of laboratory procedures.
