Osteoid osteoma of the rib: A report of an extremely rare condition

•Osteoid osteomas (OO) of rib location are extremely rare, less than 1% of all rib tumors and very few cases are cited in the literature. This is the first case in our department.•Without resection, OOs slowly continue their development and associated symptoms are getting worse.•Accurate diagnosis and adequate treatment of an OO is very important to avoid overtreatment.
