Symptomatic gastrointestinal dysmotility in autonomic neuropathy

Autonomic neuropathy (AN) patients frequently experience multi-systemic symptoms, ranging from cardiovascular, urinary, secretory, and gastrointestinal (GI). Further, there is marked heterogeneity among patients, often limiting the yield of conventional diagnostic evaluations. The aim of this study was to describe our single-institution experience with wireless motility capsule (WMC) testing to quantitatively evaluate segmental dysfunction in AN patients with GI symptoms.
