Abstract

•SiOxCy SMWs were prepared using a facile precursor pyrolysis method.•The dielectric constant of the SMWs was about 4 when the thickness was < 5 nm.•The loss tangent ranged from 10–3 to 10–2 and the wave transmittance was > 90%.•The SiOxCy SMWs showed excellent EMW-penetration performance.
