Abstract
Introduction: Overweight (SP) and Obesity (OB) problems affect all age groups, especially women of reproductive age, for this reason it is recommended to orient prevention and management programs towards preconception. Objective: To identify the effect of a nursing intervention based on self-management to reduce overweight/obesity in preconception women in Mexicali, Baja California. Methodology: It was a quasi-experimental study with a single group, the sample size was n=25 participants. Participants received seven face-to-face sessions and two reinforcement sessions. All the information was collected by means of personal and anthropometric data questionnaires. Results: the participants decreased all the anthropometric indicators evaluated (p<.05). Conclusion: the nursing intervention based on self-management reduces the SP and OB of women in preconception stage.
