•NiMn@CNFs nanomaterials were formed by the electrospinning and calcination processes.•60Ni40Mn@CNFs showed enhanced ESA, ks and Г* values in NaOH solution.•Varying NiAc:MnAc wt.% ratio in NiMn@CNFs nanomaterial structure affected its stability.
