Multiple established forms of palladium acetate binding to the four N-atom donor 2,3-dicyano-5,6-di(2-pyridyl)-pyrazine, [(CN)2dpp]

Reaction of the multiple N-donor ligand 2,3-dicyano-5,6-di(2-pyridyl)pyrazine, [(CN)2dpp], with Pd(OCOCH3)2 leads to formation of the complexes [(CN)2dpp{Pd(OAc)2}2]·5H2O (1) and [(CN)(CONH)dppPd(OAc)] (2), characterized by unusual forms of coordination, and to [(CN)2dppPd(OAc)2]·H2O (3), with details given about their structural and physicochemical characterization.
