Abstract
•Zn2GeO4 nanocrystals (NCs) were synthetized by a precipitation method.•The NCs show UV and visible emissions at low temperature related to native defects.•The optical bandgap of the NCs was estimated.•The activation energies of the non-radiative channels in the NCs were calculated.•The NCs display a cold-white emission at room temperature.
