Terahertz Dynamics of Sodium Silicate Glass Investigated by Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy

We performed terahertz time-domain spectroscopy, low-frequency Raman scattering and low-temperature specific heat measurements to investigate different compositions of sodium silicate glasses. The boson peak (BP) behavior was successfully detected in all measurements. The BP frequency was found to be insensitive to Na2O composition. Additionally, comparing the Raman spectrum and terahertz absorption spectrum confirmed that the BP vibration mode is a combination of different fundamental vibration modes.
