Influence of arranged patterns on the absorption performance of parallel MPP absorbers

•The UC size has an influence on the degree of coupling of parallel MPP absorbers, thereby affecting their sound absorption performance. And according to the coupling degree of the UC, it can be divided into full coupling and partial coupling.•Under fully-coupled condition, the arrangement of the UC has almost no effect on the absorption performance of the parallel structure.•In the case of partial coupling, the arranged patterns have significant influence on the absorption characteristics of the parallel construction.
