10 Gbps wired and 10 Gbps/20 GHz wireless transmission system employing S and P polarization states of light and OFDM technique

In the present paper, transportation of 10 Gbps orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signal and 10 Gbps/20 GHz microwave signal for wired and wireless users over 80 km SMF along with 25 m wireless link respectively by using POLMUX technique is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Different polarization states (S and P state) of carrier signal are modulated by 10 Gbps data rate for different users. Two 20 GHz horn antennas are employed to communicate the information through 25 m wireless link. A power penalty of 1.4 dB for wired and 1.8 dB for wireless link are achieved between back-to-back and over total transmission link. A bit error rate value of < 3.8 × 10 –3 for OFDM signal, < 13% error vector magnitude for 16-quadrature amplitude modulated signal and clear constellation diagrams prove the reliability of the proposed architecture and make it more potent to the next generation communication world.
