Ready for the Digital Health World A Measure to Promote Digital Health Literacy

Digitalization is increasingly finding its way into the health care system and brings with it many new services and health offers as well as terminologies. At the same time, there is a great need for action to promote the digital health literacy of the population. The German Association of Health Related Fitness and Exercise Therapy was commissioned by DAK-Gesundheit to develope, implement and evaluate a measure to promote digital health literacy. The aim particularly included the necessity of targeting people in middle to high adulthood with low digital health literacy. DAK-Gesundheit used analogue and digital communication channels for recruitment. To promote digital health literacy, a 60-minute online-lecture was developed with the following topics: health websites, quality criteria, online video consultation, electronic prescription, mobile applications for health services, digital offers in the areas of prevention and health promotion, digital health applications (DiGAs) and digital offers for further training in home care. 901 people took part in eight realized lectures between September and December 2021. The evaluation is based on the information of n - 361 (40 % of participants). 90 % of them gave the presentation an overall rating of "good" or "very good". The other evaluations also indicate a high level of satisfaction of the respondents with the offer. The present survey results and the quality features named by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds can serve as an extension of the DVGS range of services in promoting digital health literacy.
