Abstract
Based on the method of randomly arranged experimental members, the impact of year-weather conditions, varieties and application of stimulants on the root yield and sugar content of sugar beet was examined in this field experiments. The field experiments were carried out under the auspices of the Research Center of Plant Biology and Ecology of FAFR, SUA in Nitra. Field experiments were performed during 2019 and 2020. The experimental site is located in a maize growing region of Dolma Malanta, its climatic conditions are characterized as warm and dry. Statistical analysis confirmed high significant impact of year-weather conditions and stimulants on the root yield and sugar content of sugar beet. The impact of varieties on root yield and sugar content was not significant. Compared to 2019, the root yield was higher by 2.88 t ha(-1) in 2020. On the contrary, a statistically significant higher sugar content by 1.08% was confirmed in 2019. In terms of the examined varieties, the Okapi variety reached a higher root yield (+0.27 t ha(-1)) and the Sioux variety (+0.14%) reached higher sugar content. The stimulants used in the experiment showed a positive effect on the root yield and sugar content of sugar beet. After the application of stimulants, the highest root yield was achieved with Florone stimulant in variant 1 applied in the growth phase of 4-6 sugar beet leaves (BBCH 14-16). The highest sugar content was achieved with Fertisilin stimulant applied in variant 3 (4-6 leaves + end of leaf development; BBCH 14-16 + BBCH 31-33).
