Abstract
In this work, Graphite/polyaniline composites with different weight percentages of MnO2 were synthesized at room temperature by a chemical polymerization process. To study the influence of MnO2 on the electrical, optical, structural and antibacterial activity of the fabricated composite samples. The FTIR spectrum shows the presence of MnO2 in the structure of the composites. The XRD patterns show that the ternary compounds were polycrystalline in nature with an orthorhombic structure of γ-MnO2. The I–V properties of the prepared composites were measured by a two-probe method at room temperature. The analysis of the antibacterial activity shows a better result for the compounds with 10% by weight MnO2 nanoparticles. The UV–visible spectrum shows the absorption band at 293 nm. The calculated band gap energy was found to decrease from 3.31 to 3.10 eV for different weight ratios of MnO2. The PL study shows the strong blue emission at ~ 460 nm.
