Droplet Evaporation on Hot Micro-Structured Superhydrophobic Surfaces: Analysis of Evaporation from Droplet Cap and Base Surfaces

摘要
•Evaporation heat transfer rates from droplet cap and base surfaces are differentiated on hot structured surfaces.•The ratio of evaporation rate from water droplet base to the total evaporation rate is 0.3 - 0.7.•Effective thermal conductivity of water droplet is estimated to be 3 on high temperature structured substrates.•Temperature difference between the droplet base and the substrate base is 2°C - 18°C for an evaporating droplet with the substrate base temperature maintained between 40°C - 120°C.
