•A novel heterojunction Polypyrrole-Ag3PO4/BiPO4@TNTs was successfully synthesized.•The photoelectrode exhibited sunlight-driven photocatalytic and reusability.•Polypyrrole can significantly inhibit the photocorrosion of Ag3PO4.•The photoelectrode used to achieve the degradation of PFOA from wastewater.•Two pathways of PFOA degradation mechanism and decomposion pathway was analyzed.
