One novel Cd-MOF as a highly effective multi-functional luminescent sensor for the detection of Fe3+, Hg2+, CrⅥ, Aspartic acid and Glutamic acid in aqueous solution

One multi-functional chemosensor Cd-MOF, namely, [Cd1.5(NTB)(bipy)0.5]n (1) (NBT3− ​= ​4,4′,4″-nitrilotribenzoic acid, bipy ​= ​4,4′-bipyridine) has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition, its structure and physicochemical properties have been characterized and researched. Structural analysis shows that it is triclinic crystal system and Pī space group with fascinating three-dimensional configuration. The title Cd-MOF presents eminent luminescence stability of acid & alkali resistance in aqueous solutions covering the wide pH range of 2–12 and its solid sample remains structurally stable up to 403 ​°C. Simultaneously, it exhibits characteristic luminescence emissions (λem ​= ​470 ​nm) both in solid state and water and many be acted as multi-functional sensor towards Fe3+, Hg2+, CrⅥ, Aspartic acid and Glutamic acid with high sensitivity, selectivity, efficiency and fast response. In addition, the luminescence quenching mechanisms have been investigated systematically by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometer (ICP-AES), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analyses, PXRD analysis and UV–vis spectra.
