Investigation on the by-pass line orifice plate assisted hydrodynamic cavitation (B-PLOPA HC) degradation of basic fuchsin (BF) in wastewater

•Throttle valve in the by-pass line is firstly replaced by orifice plate as cavitator.•The by-pass line orifice plate efficaciously strengthens overall HC effect of system.•More than 80 % basic fuchsin can be degraded in B-PLOPA HC device.•The wastewater treatment cost can be saved 41.82 % by using B-PLOPA HC device.•B-PLOPA HC device can effectively shorten wastewater treatment time.
