Abstract
The glycerol metabolic pathway plays an important in the growth and infection of the pathogenic Mycobacterium H37Rv strain, which has not been explored. In this work, we utilized a non-pathogenic Mycobacterium HGMS2 as a model strain to investigate how the glycerol metabolic pathway affects its growth. Based on our recently-determined whole genome sequencing data on the HGMS2 strain, we predicted the glycerol metabolic pathway and two key enzymes in this non-pathogenic model strain. The two key enzymes, namely, alcohol dehydrogenase [adhc, EC: 1.1.1.2] and glycerol kinase [glpk, EC: 2.7.1.30] divided the HMGS2 glycerol metabolic pathway into two branches.
