Formation and arsenic distribution of egg-type structure of matte droplets inside the copper smelting slag

•Egg-type structure of matte droplet exists inside the slag concentrate.•The core of egg-type matte droplet is Cu-rich phase while the shell is Cu2S phase.•The formation of this structure is discussed by dynamics and thermodynamics.•Arsenic element is almost distributed in the Cu-rich phase.
