Using aerosols to create Nano-scaled membranes that improve gasoline particulate filter performance and the development of Wafer-based membrane coated filter analysis (WMCFA) method

•Nano-scale membrane improves the performance of GPF.•Quality of the membrane was found influenced by the particle size and velocity.•A new wafer-based approach for rapid membrane screening was introduced.•The WMCFA’s wafer was shown to provide good representativeness of full-size GPF.
