•A new algorithm to design voltage waveforms for plasma Breakdown in Tokamaks.•Takes into account quadratic constraints as force and power in an efficient way.•Includes switching network resistors an BD time via a Genetic Algorithm approach.•The procedure is proved to be effective on DEMO.
