Salt and osmotic stress-induced changes in physio-chemical responses, PSII photochemistry and chlorophyll a fluorescence in peanut

•Osmotic stress negatively affect peanut growth.•Higher Na accumulation result in destruction of metabolism in peanut.•Stress reduced the stomatal conductance, hence photosynthetic gas exchanges.•Prompt fluorescence affected functioning of PSI acceptor side of electron transport chain.•Delayed fluorescence parameters showed increment in non-reducing reaction center.
