Abstract
The present study is focused on the synthesis, characterization, and corrosion behavior analysis of nanocrystalline (NC) and microcrystalline (MC) non-equiatomic Al 15 Cr 20 Fe 30 Mn 5 Ni 30 and Al 10 Cr 20 Fe 35 Mn 5 Ni 30 high entropy alloys (HEAs). The milled powders (using ball milling) and the synthesized NC and MC HEAs were characterized using XRD. Further, the hardness and density of NC and MC HEAs were also determined. Finally, the electrochemical corrosion behavior of NC and MC HEAs was investigated in a 3.5% NaCl solution using a potentiostat. The nanocrystallization and composition effect on the corrosion behavior was observed. MC HEAs showed better corrosion resistance than NC HEAs. The composition with lesser Al content (Al 10 Cr 20 Fe 35 Mn 5 Ni 30 ) exhibited better corrosion resistance in 3.5% NaCl solution.
