Abstract
Patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) have an altered skin microbiota with elevated S. aureus abundance and experience increased cutaneous viral infections. We hypothesize that S. aureus superantigens (SAgs) alter epithelial cell biology in ways that enhance keratinocyte susceptibility to viral infections.
