Abstract
This article aims to analyze the current regulations governing the immigration categories of refugees and temporary residents in Brazil, with the objective of evaluating their scope, applicability and effectiveness in dealing with Venezuelan mobility. To obtain this result, the authors have grounded their analysis on the legal texts, on the official documents and on the reflection from the field, in which interviews were conducted with Venezuelan individuals who fit into different migratory categories in Brazil, in order to verify the contrasts in terms of migratory regulation, the incomprehension of the distinctions related to the legal categories in the daily life of these individuals and the difficulties in the process of regularization or change of migratory classification. To this end, the concepts and theories that are developed throughout the text will be used to approach the theme of human mobility and the way in which the State acts in relation to this phenomenon, from a perspective that encompasses various analytical fields, which must be in line with its multifaceted and interdisciplinary character.
