MODERN SYNTHESIS AND EXTENDED SYNTHESIS OF BIOLOGICAL EVOLUTION IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES ACADEMICS FROM TWO BRAZILIAN UNIVERSITIES

摘要
This work aims to analyze discourses presented by Biological Science undergraduates from two Brazilian Universities regarding their knowledge of Biological Evolution. It aims to identify evidence if the knowledge derived from the Theory of Extended Synthesis is (or is not) being addressed during the graduation period. To take data, we ask undergraduates students to defend whether they agreed or disagreed with proposals. The students' explanations were interpreted through discourse analysis, which allowed us to identify the presence of terms such as epigenetics, phenotypic plasticity, biological development, among others. It was concluded that by citing these concepts, discursive evidence is configured that this knowledge is expanding the way in which evolution is also being understood by undergraduate students of the Biological Sciences courses investigated.
