•The polylogarithmic model describes well the transfer characteristics of TFTs at all levels of inversion.•The present generalization includes the necessary VDS dependencies.•The model is used in the analysis of a CMOS inverter amplifier biased in weak conduction.•The simulations are compared to the results obtained using a look-up table method.
