Particle flow characteristics in a gas-solid separation fluidized bed based on machine learning

•Particle flow has obvious nonuniform characteristics in axial space.•The bed expansion ratio was introduced to modified theoretical solid mass flow rate model.•An artificial neural network model was proposed to predict the bed spatial uniformity.•Achieving an accuracy of 94.9% and 96.6% in Training and Testing test.
