摘要
•Facile designing of a novel heterojunction photoanode using thin p-CoWO4 over n-WO3 film for enhanced solar water oxidation.•The hybrid photoanode exhibited stable photocurrent 2.4 times higher than that obtained from WO3.•The improved performance is due to reduced recombination and minimal light shading by CoWO4 co-catalyst.•Two-terminal measurement shows its potential for practical solar water oxidation at low bias.
