A novel approach on recycling short-chopped carbon fibers by electric field induced manipulation

•A purely electrostatic configuration is proposed to recycle reproduced CFs.•Functional electrical responses and specific dynamic manipulations are studied.•The method can complete specific recycling functions in hundreds of milliseconds.•The method is pollution-free and low-cost to extend the life cycle of reproduced CFs.
