Preparation and properties of the inclusion complex of chlorohexidine with β-Cyclodextrin

•β-CD-CHX were prepared by saturated aqueous solution method.•The obtained β-CD-CHX exhibited good sustained-release property.•The β-CD-CHX has excellent antibacterial effect and 20 mg/L aqueous solutions of β-CD-CHX is not toxic to MC3T3-E1.•The β-CD-CHX is simple and convenient to prepare, and has good prospects for application in the field of drug.
