Abstract

•The air cooling of the annealed Fe-Al alloys results in an increased magnetostriction.•The increasing in Tb from 0.1 to 0.2 % enhances magnetostriction in Fe-21Al alloy.•The overlapping of HDP and Snoek peak increases IF background in Fe-21Al-0.3Tb alloy.•The maximum magnetostriction of 47 ppm is observed in Fe-21Al-0.2%Tb alloy.
