Abstract
In 2020, after a very warm and extremely dry April, there was a significant cooling and heavy precipitation during May. These weather conditions had a negative effect on the field emergence of some Conviso Smart sugar beet varieties. The differences in the number of individuals between the tested varieties were up to 10,000 individuals per hectare. There was also a negative effect of soil compaction in the tramlines on field emergence, which was more than a tenth lower compared to emergence from plots that were not compacted during sowing.
