Capital control and monetary policy coordination: Tobin tax revisited

•A small open economy DSGE model with Tobin tax was built to address the policy coordination about capital control.•“Enterprises Tobin tax + interest rate cut” or “household Tobin tax + interest rate hike” is feasible.•The Tobin tax's “scare” function is greater than its “sanction” function.
