Abstract
•Diversity of vascular plants, bryophytes and lichens was studied in aspen stands.•Stand age was an important driver for the assemblages of all three species groups.•Vascular plant species richness decreased along the stand age gradient.•Lichen richness increased along the stand age gradient.•Stands over 60 years had the highest numbers of taxa with high conservation value.
