Acylative kinetic resolution of 1,1 '-binaphthyl-8,8 '-diamines by organocatalysis

A method for kinetic resolution of 2,2'-disubstituted 1,1'-binaphthyl-8,8'-diamines has been developed by enantioselective acylation of the amino group with chiral pyrrolidinopyridine organocatalysts. Multiple hydrogen-bonding interactions as well as pi-pi interaction between the catalyst and the diamines were proposed to be responsible for the accelerative enantioselective acylation.
